The story behind the CSAM’s eLearning course
As a leading provider of asbestos awareness training in Manitoba, CSAM (Construction Safety Association of Manitoba) is trusted by construction industries and beyond to deliver quality training and resources to help keep workers and communities safe.
CSAM’s Asbestos Awareness course was initially developed and delivered as an in-person training program that was aligned with the provincial training program standard defined by SAFE Work Manitoba. While initially designed for the construction industry, the program’s relevance quickly expanded to other sectors and industries requiring workplace asbestos awareness. With limited training providers in this field, CSAM found itself catering to a broad audience seeking this essential training.
Recognizing the growing demand and the logistical challenges associated with in-person training, CSAM sought a solution to make its program more accessible. They choose to convert their in-person training into a flexible eLearning format to address this need. This approach would allow them to reach a wider audience while ensuring a consistent, accurate, and meaningful learning experience.
Neovation worked closely with CSAM and their subject matter experts to transform their existing training materials into a dynamic and engaging eLearning course that was compliant with the provincial training program standard. By integrating the core principles of asbestos safety with interactive and learner-focused design, we delivered a course that empowers participants to understand their responsibilities as they relate to asbestos awareness in the workplace—including what asbestos is, where it may be present, the associated health risks, and when to call in the experts.
The client provided their existing instructor-led training materials, related federal and provincial legislation, guidelines, and training program standards. Neovation developed the new asynchronous eLearning course in partnership with the client.
